This site is the digital outlet for Bill Oakes, a content strategist who has been a photojournalist, webmaster, data center program manager, and always a manager of all things content. Starting my career with black & white film in a darkroom I’m now very pleased to be on the digital side of publishing.
As a photojournalist for a chain of community newspapers in the Chicago suburbs, I worked my way up to Photo Chief, Digital Imaging Editor, and then the company’s first Manager of Online Services. I caught the publishing bug and never let it go.
Since then I’ve worked for complex-hosting data centers, an online travel company and managed the websites and staffs of Pioneer Press Newspapers, American Marketing Association, and Chicago magazine. My resume shows the diversity of experience that has lead me to consulting. I’ve seen many sides of the publishing business and am excited about where things are going next, it’s always changing.
